This policy covers the Monela personal budgeting app and monela.site. See Legal information for the operator and its contact details.
App and personal budget
Monela uses SQLite on the device for balances, transactions, accounts, budgets, savings goals, debts, loans and schedules. The app uses these records for summaries, reminders and forecasts. Personal budgeting works without an account. Records stay on the device until you remove, replace or clear them.
Photos, receipts and notifications
Selected photos may be copied into app storage. Receipt recognition, where available, uses Tesseract on the device. On Android, optional payment notification access lets Monela read the source, content and time of supported notifications to suggest entries for review. Revoke access in Android settings. Clear previously imported suggestions in the app where available. Local reminder permission controls display of alerts.
Assistant, PIN and biometrics
The personal assistant uses rules and records on the device. It does not send questions or answers to a cloud model. It keeps up to 30 history entries per scope. You can clear its history and summaries. Where Android app lock is available, the PIN verification value and attempt counters are stored on the device. The system checks biometrics and returns the result. Monela does not receive fingerprint or face templates. The lock controls access through the app. SQLite does not use application-level database encryption.
Exports and system backups
A personal ZIP export can contain budget records and photos. Treat it as readable by anyone who has the file. Recipients and storage services you choose can retain copies. Android backup and transfer can include eligible records, depending on device settings. The app’s backup rules exclude its assistant database and protected sign-in storage. Exported files and system copies must be managed separately.
Monela Account
In versions with Monela Account, Supabase in Frankfurt processes your email, profile, sessions and any associated access entitlements, support tickets and transfer requests to operate your account. Resend delivers one-time codes through its European sending region and stores service data in the United States. Its standard email and log retention is 30 days. The app uses secure device storage for sign-in state. The web form keeps the access token in tab memory. Confirmed deletion removes the active account and associated records. Provider logs and backups expire separately.
Website and support
Cloudflare serves the site and may process IP addresses, browser details and request timestamps for delivery and security. The site uses no advertising trackers or analytics scripts. Support email is handled through Zoho Mail. The operator uses your address, message and attachments to reply and resolve the request. Send only the details needed for the issue.
Use and retention
We process account and support data to provide requested services. We use technical information to operate and protect them, and retain records where the law requires it. Where applicable, the legal bases are performance of the service contract, legitimate interests in security and handling requests, and legal obligations. Optional device access can be revoked. We aim to remove working support correspondence 90 days after closure, subject to legal requirements or an ongoing dispute. Provider logs, recovery copies and backups have separate cycles. Zoho documents separate trash and recovery cycles and retains mail trace logs for up to six months. Services may process data abroad. You can ask the privacy contact about applicable safeguards.
Your choices and policy updates
Use Data & deletion to manage local data and copies. You can use the privacy contact to request access, correction, a copy, erasure or restriction, to object or to withdraw consent, as applicable. The operator may verify the request. You can also contact the competent authority. Parents and guardians can use the same contact about children’s data. The effective date appears on this page. Material changes will be communicated as required by applicable law.
